AI ATC Group Launch 2007
3rd September 2007
It is about time we scrapped of the tidak apa attitude, knowing ones rights is a must in today's world, it is also rather unfortunate that most people are unaware of their rights. As individuals we have the right to fresh air, the right to expression, etc. Many NGOS (non-governmental organisations) have arrised to curb human rights discrimination, among them, Amnesty International was originally founded in the UK in 1961. The amnesty international office was set in Malaysia in 1991 today we have over 200 members, local groups in different parts of the country as well as networks, it is spread over 150 countries and has members over 2.2million people around the world. With members from various backgrounds, ethnicity and religion. Amnesty International is an independent body it does not support or oppose any political system, nor does it support or oppose the views of the victims whose rights to protect. It is concern solely with the impartial protection of human rights.
Despite such developments, it is rather unfortunate that most people are unaware of their rights. As a result ATC has recently established a subordinate body of amnesty international which goals are to create awareness among students in the line of human rights.
